I’m a staff
nurse. I am married with 2 kids and I love my job at the rehab, meeting
different people with different struggles in life. I feel fulfilled every time
I can see a patient get better and of course I get depressed when a patient
passes away. Such is the job of a nurse. But it is still rewarding and it pays
well.
Our hometown is
in New York. We transferred to Glendale, West Virginia because my dad was
assigned here to another company. He died shortly after a heart attack. Ever
since, my mom was the breadwinner of the family working as a teacher. My 3
brothers are also scholars in school, a privilege of my mom, since she has
taught for over 10 years now.
I was an
academic scholar at the University of Phoenix, since we are 4 in the family and
a little hard up. My mother is also a teacher in the university until now.
I am married with 2 kids, both in grade
school. My wife is also a nurse and works in my first workplace, in Beckley.
She still works there.
My Work
My first work
was at Beckley ARH Hospital. I worked there as a Staff Nurse. I worked at the
Emergency Room for a start and assisted the doctors in all operations of the
patients, administering their medical needs. It was a good starting job, but since
I had many mouths to feed; I am the breadwinner of the family, so I had to find
other means of livelihood. Then I found out that there was a job opening for
staff nurse at a rehab hospital. I grabbed the opportunity at once.
My second and
current job is at Health South Rehab Hospital in 120 -12 street Princeton, West
Virginia. Our hospital is a very good rehab center which specializes with
different disabilities. We provide high quality care to patients. We have
different top of the line and advanced methods and technologies that other
rehabs do not offer. We continually strive to the pursuit of excellence and we
partner with your family and the patient in order to achieve maximum results
with the treatment plans that we will formulate especially designed for each
patient.
My duties and
responsibilities as a staff nurse is mainly to take care of the over-all
welfare of the patient, I not only take care of the patient medically, but I am
also tasked to establish a compassionate environment for patients providing
emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, friend and family.
